Carson Wentz will be back under center for the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday as they host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.

Wentz, who tore both the ACL and LCL in his left knee on December 10 against the Los Angeles Rams, was cleared for contact Monday and the team has announced he'll get the start next weekend. The Eagles are 1-1 so far, coming off a 27-21 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"He's excited, he's ready," head coach Doug Pederson said. "Our plan was in place, he understood it, he embraced that, and now he's ready."

"Just watching him move around physically and some of the things he's done, he's ready. He's ready to take the reins again and move forward."

"He's a guy that will be totally prepared. He comes in early, studies the tape," Pederson added. "He's going to be prepared mentally, now it's just about the physical part taking over."

Backup QB Nick Foles, who led the Eagles to their first ever Super Bowl championship after Wentz's season-ending injury, has not played as well as he did during last year's miraculous playoff run. In the Eagles' first two games he threw only one touchdown to go along with one interception.

Wentz, 25, finished second in the NFL last season with 33 touchdown passes to just seven interceptions despite missing the last three-plus games. He was among the short-list of players in contention for the NFL MVP award, and he'll look to pickup where he left off next Sunday against a vulnerable Colts defense.
