Last week the NBA released the first round of All-Star voting, and everyone was shocked to see Warriors center Zaza Pachulia listed second in the voting behind Kevin Durant for the Western Conference frontcourt. Fast forward a week, and Zaza has not only retained his second place spot, he’s actually widened the gap on the rest of the field!
The rest of the ballot is pretty much identical. The minor changes include Kyle Lowry passing Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler surpassing Carmelo Anthony. Guess Knicks fans have lost faith after their team continues to drop games to bad teams. The fact that Zaza Pachulia has over 820,000 votes is astounding, but it’s unlikely he’ll be the starter despite the big numbers. Fan voting now only accounts for 50% of the vote because players (25%) and media members (25%) still need to vote.
Starts will be announced in exactly one week, on January 19, while the full rosters will be announced a week after that, on January 26. The 2017 All Star Game will take place February 19.
Get to voting if you haven’t already.
