With the NBA All-Star game right around the corner, the NBA decided to announce the starters for the big game on Thursday, and per usual there’s some arguable snubs, including Russell Westbrook! That's right, Russell is not starting, but here’s who is.
For the West squad, Warriors’ guard Steph Curry and Kevin Durant will be joined by Pelicans’ forward Anthony Davis, Houston Rockets’ guard James Harden, and the San Antonio Spurs’ forward Kawhi Leonard. So pretty much, Steph got the nod over Russell Westbrook for the start, but that could literally go either way.
As for the East, they’ll start Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Lebron James, Demar DeRozan, & Milwaukee Bucks’ guard Giannis Antetokounmpo, aka the Greek Freak.
For the first time ever, voting on the starters for the NBA All-Star game was not exclusively left up to fans. Looking to avoid a popularity contest with the likes of ZaZa Pachulia & Kobe Bryant getting the nod to start, they left %50 of the process up to the media & players to pick, and I think they got it pretty right.
The game will take place Sunday, February 19 in New Orleans, but you already know the entire weekend will be filled with festivities.
