Well it's the first Top Tracks of 2017, and Future is coming out swinging. After a 2016 that paled in comparison to his crazy 2015 (even with a couple of hits in "Wicked" and "I Got The Keys"), Fewtch has already geared up for a big year by dropping two new tracks in the past week, both of which adorn the highest spots on the year's first Top Tracks list. Can the ATL titan ever equal a 2015 that brought us Beast Mode, 56 Nights, DS@, and WATTBA? That seems like a tall order, but don't count him out.
Rick Ross and Lil Wayne are the runners-up to Future's three appearances, both popping up twice today. New tracks barely missing out on spots include Cashmere Cat, Starrah, 2 Chainz, and Tory Lanez's "Throw Myself A Party" (#14), Quentin Miller and Jeremih's "Bad Influence (#21), Run The Jewels and Danny Brown's "Hey Kids (Bumaye)" (#26), and Lil B's "My House" (#29)
10. Baby E Feat. Lil Wayne & Hoody Baby - Bando (Prod. By Baby E)
Atlanta's Baby E debuted to a larger audience in late 2015 when Weezy included a remix of his song "Finessing" on No Ceilings 2, and now he's making his first appearance on Top Tracks, thanks again to his Young Money benefactor. "Bando" is a piano-led cut also featuring Hoody Baby, and it arrives ahead of Baby E's forthcoming Kill The Noise project, due out later this month. "Bando" debuts at #10.
9. 21 Savage - 100
Last week, 21 Savage's latest track cracked our Top 5 with the absolutely abysmal user rating of 28%, and after dropping one more percent in the past week, it's still managed to hold on to a spot. There's no word on a new project from the ATL rapper y'all love to hate, but you can bet he's in a hurry to follow up Savage Mode. In its second week out, "100" is down five places from #4 to #9.
8. DJ Drama Feat. Lil Wayne - Intro
Is DJ Drama and Lil Wayne's Quality Street Music 2 intro track replacing Mac Miller and Anderson .Paak's "Dang!" as the second-oldest recurring track on this list? It looks to be that way, with the latter dropping out of our top ten for the first time since October, and the former making it's first-ever consecutive appearance. In its 24th week out, "Intro" is up one spot from #8 to #9.
7. Juelz Santana - Santana Bandana
Santana's now placed three separate tracks in our top ten in the past month, but "Santana Bandana" is the first he's done all on his own. Following up the new-school assists from Dave East, Bobby Shmurda, and Rowdy Rebel on "Time Ticking," and the old-school assists from Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Redman, and Method Man on "Ol' Thang Back," Santana's got to be pretty happy that he's still able to get numbers as a solo artist. "Santana Bandana" debuts at #7.
6. Tyga Feat. Kanye West - Feel Me
"First new Kanye verse of 2017" is a song descriptor that's guaranteed to rocket the track in question onto the chart. Even if it is by one of G.O.O.D. Music's bottom-feeders, "Feel Me" got everyone's attention in a short period of time, only dropping a little over 48 hours ago. "Feel Me" debuts at #6.
5. Wheezy Feat. Quavo, Lil Uzi Vert & Shad Da God - 200,000
Frequent Young Thug collaborator Wheezy has made several appearances on our chart as a featured producer, but this is his first track as a lead artist (even though he doesn't rap). "200,000" has him rounding up the impressive lineup of Quavo, Lil Uzi, and Bankroll Mafia's Shad Da God, and this one portends good things for the beatmaker's upcoming solo release. The track makes its debut at #5.
4. Big Sean - Moves (Prod. By 808 Mafia)
We're now exactly one month away from Big Sean's I Decided, and exactly two weeks into lead single "Moves" reign on our chart. Despite the fact that Sean's making the project out to be a very serious endeavor, "Moves" is a pretty standardly sophomoric song for him, referencing titties moving and 21 year-olds who are "very legal." We'll have to see just how moody this one actually gets before we call Sean for his bluff once more. In its second week out, "Moves" is down three spots from #1 to #4.
3. DJ Khaled Feat. Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, August Alsina, Jeremih, Future & Rick Ross - Do You Mind
Oh, you thought a new year would kill this monster Khaled track?! Think again. "Do You Mind" dropped back in July, and instead of a new calendar year vanquishing it, it's actually seemed to make the track stronger. In its 23rd week out, the track's up two spots from #5 to #3.
2. Future Feat. Rick Ross - That's A Check (Prod. By 808 Mafia)
The first and less successful of Future's two new tracks is "That's A Check," one that finds him pairing up with Rick Ross for the first time since... (see previous track on this list). The high-octane-- literally, with race car effects on it-- cut is 808 Mafia's second track on the list today, as they also did Sean Don's "Moves." "That's A Check" makes its debut at #2.
1. Future - Buy Love
Mr. Hendrix's K-Ci & JoJo-sampling "Buy Love" may be killing "That's A Check" in terms of views, but even that track's 75% user rating is better than this one's, which falls at a depressing 64%. Is it because this is the most romantic track Fewtch has dropped since 2014's Honest? Or is it because of vocals that are a little garbled and incomprehensible, even by the astronaut's standards? Who knows, but "Buy Love" still debuts at #1.
