With just under two weeks left in the year, we've reached our second-to-last 2016 edition of Top Tracks. The biggest trend in this weekly feature this year, bar none, is Drake. Specifically, if Drake is on the track, it's hitting #1. Case in point? This week, where a stacked-as-fuck posse cut sits at #2 below a Drake-featuring Gucci Mane track that dropped late in the week. If Kanye West, Big Sean, Quavo, 2 Chainz, and Yo Gotti combined aren't enough to unseat the 6 God, his reign is cemented. Back when him and GuWop linked up for "Back on Road" in June, it only topped out at #3, but that's because it sat behind two other Drake tracks. Complete dominance.
Yo Gotti, Big Sean, and Jeremih all finish with two appearances apiece this week. New tracks barely missing out on a spot include Chris Brown, Usher, and Gucci Mane's "Party" (#12), Post Malone's "Big Lie" (#13), Wale's "Black Is GOLD" (#14), and Lupe Fiasco's "N.E.R.D." (#15).
10. Kodak Black & Yo Gotti - Weatherman
Since Kodak Black got out of jail on December 1st, he's been on quite the tear, first dropping solo joint "There He Go," then this slapper with Yo Gotti, then the holiday-themed "All I Want For Christmas" with Dej Loaf. He's also got some major heat with Metro Boomin on the way, so watch out: Kodak's 2017 might be better than his breakout 2016. "Weatherman" debuts at #10.
9. Juelz Santana Feat. Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Method Man & Redman - Ol Thang Back (Prod. By Jahlil Beats)
Last week, Juelz Santana made his first appearance on our Top Tracks list in quite some time, teaming up with a squad of top-tier New Yorkers over a Jahlil Beats creation. This week, it's deja vu, except instead of youngsters Dave East, Bobby Shmurda, and Rowdy Rebel, he's alongside fellow legends of the city. "Ol Thang Back" debuts at #9.
8. J. Cole - Neighbors
One of the sure highlights on J. Cole's recent 4 Your Eyez Only project is "Neighbors," a song partially inspired by real events at the home housing Cole's studio. With its placement on the list this week, Cole's now been on here in one way or another since the beginning of December. "Neighbors" makes its debut at #8.
7. Mac Miller Feat. Anderson .Paak - Dang!
21 weeks and counting! Mac Miller's first Divine Feminine single was in and out of the top ten for its first couple of months out, but ever since late October, it's been in here with little fluctuation. This week, it falls one place from #6 to #7.
6. YG Feat. Lil Wayne - Trill (Prod. By Boi-1da)
Two weeks ago, YG and Weezy surprised us with their second collab of the year, which dropped as part of Red Bull's "20 before 17" series. Is it better than "I Got A Question"? That much is unclear, but with a user rating of 94% and a second consecutive appearance in our top ten, it's apparently exactly what both artists' fans wanted. In its second week out, "Trill" falls five places from #1 to #6.
5. DJ Khaled Feat. Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Future, August Alsina, Jeremih & Rick Ross - Do You Mind
The undisputed champ of the year in the Top Tracks category, DJ Khaled's massive, Usher-interpolating "Do You Mind" might also stand as the most star-studded posse cut of the year, if you're counting sales and actual chart performance. In its 21st week out, it's down one spot from #4 to #5.
4. Big Sean Feat. Chance The Rapper & Jeremih - Living Single
"Living Single: is the first of three consecutive posse cuts on this list that dropped last week and failed to unseat Drake and Gucci Mane. Of course, this Big Sean cut was hindered by dropping just a few days ago, early Saturday morning, as well as leaking a few months ago in unfinished form. Nevertheless, the Chance and Jeremih-assisted cut debuts at #4.
3. Wiz Khalifa Feat. Juicy J & Chevy Woods - Bombay & Lemonade
My first reaction to this one was, Wiz Khalifa really made a Taylor Gang posse cut about Bombay gin and didn't think to put Ty Dolla $ign on it? But it turns out that this was a remnant from the O.N.I.F.C. sessions, and even despite Ty's absence on a song about his favorite drink, "Bombay & Lemonade" rocketed up our chart. "Bombay & Lemonade" debuts at #3.
2. Yo Gotti Feat. Kanye West, Big Sean, Quavo & 2 Chainz - Castro
It's honestly a little crazy that Yo Gotti rounded up the most G.O.O.D. Music artists (and, in 2 Chainz's case, affiliates) on a single track since "Champions" and it didn't hit number one. Perhaps a little of that is due to Gotti not exactly being the most popular rapper on the planet, but you've also got to give it up for the power of Drake. "Castro" debuts at #2.
1. Gucci Mane Feat. Drake - Both
Personally, I think that "Both" is a pretty subpar track for both parties involved, but in terms of views, that doesn't matter: when you see these names together, you've gotta click. Even if this one doesn't make as much noise as "Back On Road" in the long run, and even if their rumored joint tape never happens (it probably won't) it's still a huge get for GuWop. "Both" debuts at #1.
