Weekly review of the Hip-Hop and R&B sales/charts.

This week we welcome a new entry on Charts Don't Lie, Kid Ink. Kid Ink is a prime example of a rapper who took his internet fame way past the internet. The Alumni rapper is now signed to a major label, and was able to successfully release his debut album My Own Lane-- he actually surpassed the sales projections of 40-45k. Ink sold a respectable 50k, which isn't too shabby for an artist who is not quite mainstream yet, although it's only a matter of time until he gets there. Jhene Aiko's Sail Out EP actually saw a bit of a rise this past week, after falling off for a few weeks. And while B.o.B hasn't been having the best time on the charts, Underground Luxury did see a rise this week, up several spots from last week. Check out how our other hip-hop artists fared this past week below.

1)         Beyonce— Beyonce: After spends her second consecutive week at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, as the “Frozen” soundtrack keeps the #1 spot occupied. After charting for five weeks, Bey pushed out 78,881 copies, making her total sales 1,510,763.

2)         Kid Ink— My Own Lane: West Coast rapper Kid Ink nabbed a top 3 debut on the Billboard charts with his debut album My Own Lane. The RCA-signed rapper didn’t do too shabby when it comes to opening week sales, as he sold 50,445 units. We’ll have to see where he takes it from here, and if he’s able to maintain his position on the charts.

3)         Eminem— The Marshall Mathers LP 2: Eminem remains a force on the Billboard 200, although he got pushed out of #3 and is now sitting at #4. Em’s been charting for ten weeks now, and sold another 36,000 units of his album. His total sales are nearing the 2x platinum mark, with 1,817,000.
