Charlotte Hornets' high-flying rookie Miles Bridges plans to take part in the 2019 Dunk Contest in front of the hometown fans next month, according to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
Bridges, who displayed some of his ridiculous leaping ability on Thursday night, is the first player to announce his desire to compete in the contest.
The 20-year old forward out of Michigan State posted 15 points off the bench in Charlotte's 114-95 victory against the Sacramento Kings last night, which included the thunderous dunk shown in the video above. In just 42 games this season Bridges has quickly established himself as one of the best dunkers of the rookie class and has shown that he is more than capable of competing for the dunk contest crown.
The three other competitors have not yet been revealed, but we do know that last year's champ, Donovan Mitchell, will not be taking part in the festivities on February 16.
The NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte will take place from February 15-17 with the Dunk Contest, Three Point Contest and Skills Challenge taking place on All-Star Saturday, February 16.
As for the actual All-Star game, voting for fans, players and media will conclude on Monday, January 21. The All Star starters, and captains, will be announced January 24 on TNT. Reserves will be announced on January 31. Click here to check out the latest fan voting returns and details about the televised draft.
