The Jussie Smollett story has been difficult to keep up with. With so many updates happening last week, things kept getting wilder with Jussie getting arrested for filing a false police report. Apparently, we haven't even heard the entire story because, in a new interview with Good Morning America, the same show that spoke to Smollett after the alleged hate crime, police chief Eddie Johnson said that more evidence will be coming out in the next few days.
During an appearance on GMA this morning, Johnson told Robin Roberts that not everything has been presented to the public yet. "There’s a lot more evidence that hasn’t been presented yet, and does not support the version he gave," says Johnson. "There’s still a lot of physical evidence, video evidence and testimony that just simply does not support his version of what happened."
In case you've been out of the loop, Empire actor Jussie Smollett alleges that he was attacked in the streets of Chicago one night, getting a noose tied around his neck and having bleach poured over him while racist and homophobic epithets were used against him. Johnson has delivered a public address regarding the case, suggesting that Smollett staged his own beating because he was "dissatisfied" with his salary. Since this information became public, FOX decided to cut the actor from the final two episodes of Empire's season.
Will you be keeping an eye out for new information in the Smollett case?
