It's been a minute since we've heard new music from Jhené Aiko. The singer dropped a freestyle at the end of 2018 but aside from that, there hasn't been much cooking on her end. Of course, she appears to be spending time in the studio following a possible split from Big Sean but mostly none of that music has seen the light of day. On New Year's Eve, Jhené previewed her "Triggered" freestyle but she hasn't dropped any indication of an album or mixtape coming soon. Speculation may be coming to an end soon because, in an Instagram comment, the singer has just revealed that she's got ten freestyles ready to go.
Her "Wasted Love" freestyle was one of the only times we got to hear Jhené's voice last year so hopefully, she releases some more content now that we're in a new year. The artist shared a photo of herself and wrote, "Skinny but still insecure" on the image. It follows a string of depressing meme-like uploads from Aiko. The news comes in the comments section as a few fans went digging and found that she actually responded to one supporter asking for new music. "Is 10 songs enough?" asked Jhené. "Are u ok with them being all freestyled? cuz if so. done."
The prospect of some new music from one half of Twenty88 is exciting. It's unclear if and when Jhene plans to release her freestyles but if they're as powerful as "Wasted Love," we'll be in for a treat.
