Emilia Clarke, who plays the gorgeous and regal Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's smash hit series Game of Thrones, is wishing the show farewell. The final season of Game of Thrones has wrapped production, which means Clarke will no longer be obligated to live in Northern Ireland for months out of the year to film her scenes. Fans of the series will undoubtedly succumb to their bittersweet emotions once the show ends for good next year, and Clarke took to Instagram to write her own emotionally distraught goodbye.
"Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade," she wrote as the caption to a post of her laying in a field of flowers. "It’s been a trip @gameofthrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I’d be able to live and the family I’ll never stop missing." Several leaks for the final season have hit the internet in the last few months. First, a social media post by a cast member revealed details of a battle scene that took 55 nights to film. The post was scrubbed from the internet almost immediately. Then, the actor who plays Rhaegar Targaryen on the series also had his social media post deleted after he revealed that flashbacks would play an important part in the upcoming season. Lastly, Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, got a tattoo that many fans are speculating could be a minor spoiler regarding who survives in the last season.
Game of Thrones season 8 arrives next April.
