Eagles secure bye in the first round.

The Philadelphia Eagles secured a bye in the first round of the playoffs yesterday afternoon with a 34-29 victory over the division rival New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

Backup QB Nick Foles, who took over for Carson Wentz after he tore his ACL in Week 14, threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns in his first start since taking over.

Philly, now an NFL-best 12-2 on the season, pulled out the win despite allowing the Giants offense to accumulate 504 yards, including 434 yards through the air. After the game, Eli Manning spoke about how Eagles fans took over the stadium and made it difficult for their offense to hear the cadence.

Per NJ.com,

"Brett Jones couldn't hear me call the cadence. You don't think that would happen at home, but I guess when you've only got two games, you've got a lot of Eagles fans, and they were loud. We couldn't hear the cadence and that's why we jumped offsides."

"They're loud. They're crazy," Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills said. "We had a great group out there."

The Eagles will finish up the season with two home games, including a Monday night matchup against the Raiders in Week 16 and the season finale against the Dallas Cowboys. If Philly picks up a win on Christmas night against Oakland they will secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Even without MVP candidate Carson Wentz, the Eagles are still among the favorites to win the Super Bowl. After yesterday's win, the Eagles have 10/1 odds to win it all, trailing only the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers and defending champion New England Patriots.
