The New England Patriots are coming off a 33-30 loss on their home field at the hands of Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. New England's defense has been torched by opposing QBs this season and last Sunday was no different as Cam, who has struggled so far this season, threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns.
In fact, the Pats have allowed each of the four quarterbacks they've faced to throw for more than 300 yards. On the flip side, they have the NFL's top offense.
New England's veteran safety Devin McCourty spoke about the defensive woes, per ESPN,
"This is even new to me as far as the way we are playing," said safety Devin McCourty, a team captain who has been with the club since 2010. "We've played bad. The most important stat to us is points, and we're [second to] last. Our offense has scored more than enough points to win games. ... Defensively, we understand we have to step up and do our part."
The Bucs, on the other hand, head into tonight's matchup with a 2-1 record, coming off a last-second victory over the New York Giants. If the first quarter of the NFL season is any indication, Jameis Winston, Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson and co. should be looking forward to feasting on New England's secondary tonight. Tampa's offense currently ranks ninth overall in the NFL.
We all know what Tom Brady is capable of, regardless of who he's throwing the ball to, so fans should be expecting a high-scoring affair at Raymond James Stadium tonight.
