The NFL regular season kicked off last night at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, as the New England Patriots raised their Super Bowl 51 banner prior to their matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Then, Tom Brady led the Patriots down the field for a touchdown on the opening drive. And then Chiefs rookie running back, Kareem Hunt, fumbled on the team's first offensive snap of the game, as things quickly seemed to be getting out of hand - a story we've seen time and again for opposing teams at Gillette Stadium.
However, the Chiefs defense made a big stop on fourth down, allowing Kareem Hunt and the Kansas City offense to redeem themselves. Hunt went on to score three touchdowns and racked up 246 yards en route to KC's 42-27 victory over the defending champs.
Chiefs QB Alex Smith finished with a remarkable 148.6 passer rating, completing 28/35 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns, including a 75-yard bomb to speedy wide receiver, Tyreek Hill. On the other hand, Tom Brady completed just 16 of his 36 passes and finished with no touchdowns.
Naturally, twitter was abuzz throughout the first NFL game of the season but things got ratcheted up a notch when the Patriots, who were favored by nine points, took an L on their home field.
