Free agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins has reportedly agreed to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs once free agency officially opens at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 14. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapaport, the deal is for three-years $48 million, including $30M fully guaranteed.

After being selected fourth overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2014 NFL Draft, Watkins hasn't quite lived up to the hype as he has dealt with several injuries throughout his first four years. Still, he's a speedy receiver with "big play ability" that drew interest from several teams as a free agent.

Watkins was traded to the Los Angeles Rams last season where he played 15 games but managed just 39 catches for 593 yards, although he had eight touchdowns. He had his best statistical season in 2015 when he caught 60 passes for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns.

At just 24-years old, Watkins was one of the more intriguing wide receiver options on the free agent market and he'll now join a high-powered Kansas City Chiefs offense that already includes speedster Tyreek Hill, Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce and 22-year old running back Kareem Hunt. The Chiefs traded QB Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins this offseason but they have Patrick Mahomes, who was drafted 10th overall in 2017.

Kansas City won the AFC West last season with a 10-6 record but were bounced in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs by the Tennessee Titans.
