With two OVO r'n'b releases down (dvsn's The Morning After and PND's Seven Days), we've still got several more to go. Next up on the roster is Majid Jordan, with their new album The Space Between arriving next Friday. The duo have already prepped post-release plans with a world tour in support of The Space Between. The tour dates and cities have yet to be revealed, so stay tuned to see if they'll be hitting your part of the world. They've also revealed the full tracklist for the album earlier this week, showcasing two OVO features, PARTYNEXTDOOR and dvsn, and that's it. "Body Talk" lands at #4 on the album's tracklist, and was premiered today by Beats 1's Zane Lowe.
Production for "Body Talk" comes from 1/2 of Majid Jordan, Jordan Ullman, and hitmakers Stargate (surprisingly enough). Stargate, a duo in their own right, are known for producing mega pop stars including Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Pink -- you get the idea. Still, nothing sounds out of place on "Body Talk." Nimble synth keys and a pulsing drum drape the background, with everything culminating in a flurry as the lead up to the hook. Majid Jordan's hook is actually slightly reminiscent of The Weeknd's cadence at points (or is that just me??). They're in their element, no matter, a veritable synth-pop dreamscape.
In terms of previous song releases, the duo have already dropped "My Imagination" with dvsn, "Phases," and "One I Want" with PARTYNEXTDOOR. Pre-order the new album on iTunes while you're here, it drops on October 27th. As we've mentioned, the OVO camp is basically plotting a release for every artist on their roster at the moment, and that includes the bawseman Drizzy Drake, so it sounds like we'll be able to gorge on OVO albums through out the rest of 2017 and 2018.
Quotable Lyrics
Time seems to slow down with you
And days seem to blur in my mind
There's nothing I would rather do
Then hear you out and help you unwind
