Battle rap is quickly growing as a culture. What was almost completely relegated to street corners and Youtube a few years ago has garnered national recognition, more tv programming, Pay-Per-View events, and other attention of the mainstream media. Hip Hop icons like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Drake have put on events for the battle scene and at this rate things can only continue to expand. That being the case, we’re here to keep you updated on all things battle rap. It’s always a great time to join the culture.
What’s up, battle fans? Happy holidays to all of you. Speaking of, URL has announced that they have some big plans for Christmas. Those plans include, but aren’t limited to, the release of the highly anticipated Chess vs Ave battle. But for now, we’ve got more than a few battles to hold you over. The first two battles from KOTD’s “Ganik vs Gully” event are here, and if you can’t wait for a Smack battle check out T-Top vs Tsu Surf. All that and more is here for y’all.
Real Deal vs A. Ward
This battle seemed to be what the “Ganik vs Gully” event was all about. Real Deal is one of the most consistent and respected vets KOTD has to offer. A. Ward is one of the biggest up and comers with just a year of battling under his belt. Both have been praised for this battle.
Ogmios vs Marlo
Don’t Flop’s “8th Birthday” event had a lot of battles, but with these two battling, it’s hard to imagine many that the crowd would find funnier. Marlo and Ogmios are two of the more unique guys in battle rap.
Tay Roc vs Arsonal
Tay Roc leaves the URL stage for a bit to travel to Jersey and battle Arsonal on the U Dubb stage. Ars had a clear homefield advantage here, but Tay Roc didn’t let that deter him from being as disrespectful as possible.
Serius Jones vs Arsonal
As another addition to the stacked card at the “No Mask” event, this battle pits two huge New Jersey names against each other. Both of these guys crossed the country to battle in the bay, and the Oakland crowd seemed to love it.
Tsu Surf vs T-Top
Night Of Main Events looks to live up to its name, and this battle is a big reason. Let the fans tell it, this battle could have gone either way up until the third round, when Surf let some mic issues throw him off.
Daylyt vs Gjonaj
In what’s pretty much the biggest match up of the event (as far as big names go), the fans got aggression and bars from Gjonaj. From Daylyt, they got a little bit of everything. A pretty lyrical first round, a questionable second round, and a third round in which he reminded them all that he can really rap.
Chess vs Rad B Gets Cancelled
Chess and Rad B were supposed to battle at U Dubb’s “High Stakes 2” event, but as Arsonal puts it, “the battle was compromised”. He doesn’t specify the reasons outright, but he makes it clear that it’s not U Dubb’s fault, it’s not Chess’ fault, and Arsonal is a little pissed about it. He does say he’s going to add another battle, though.
Merry Christmas From URL
According to URL’s Twitter account, they have multiple plans for Christmas. The trailer for Chess vs Ave revealed that the battle will be released that day, but they have said “it’s multiple things”, so there must be more.
Battle of the Zae 7 Card Announced
Dirtbag Dan took to Instagram a few days ago to release the card for his upcoming “Battle of the Zae 7” event. This 7th installment goes down on January 28th and includes The Saurus vs TOPR, Bonnie Godiva vs No Shame, and Reverse Live vs Everybody Knows, just to name a few.
