If you haven't watched Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino's "Atlanta" yet, ya better jump on the band wagon soon before the train leaves the station. According to reports from Complex, Glover's new sitcom is the biggest cable comedy debut in three years. That amounts to approximately 3 million viewers for the season premiere. What's more impressive is that "Atlanta" is equal parts commercial and critical success, sitting pretty with a Metacritic score of 90.
Glover, writer-rapper-actor-singer extraordinaire, got his start as a Youtube sketch star with Derrick Comedy, before moving on to bigger/better things such as a seat at the writer's table on 30 Rock and an almost-starring role on Community. This is Glover's first foray into television since leaving Community, and the talented renaissance man is proving to be more than capable of pulling off his own show. The question is if "Atlanta" keeps succeeding at this velocity, will he ever have time to get back into the music?
