In December reports circulated about an "Atlanta" TV show Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, had been working on. The rapper/actor was prepping a pilot for the network FX, reportedly about the ATL hip-hop scene. Today we've finally received an update on the project, with word of the TV show being cast.
The network announced today that the comedy "Atlanta" has found its lead characters. The show will follow two cousins as they navigate Atlanta's rap scene. Childish himself will not only write for the show, he'll star in it as well. Alongside Glover, Brian Tyree Henry ("Boardwalk Empire"), Lakeith Lee Stanfield ("Dope") and Zazie Beetz ("Applesauce") will also act.
Glover will take on the role of Earnest "Earn" Mark who ends up managing the career of his cousin, Alfred Miles (played by Bryan Tyree Henry). The pilot episode will be directed by Childish Gambino collaborator Hiro Murai, and it starts production this month.
