The day finally arrived for Nas to premiere his "Time Is Illmatic" documentary film at the Tribeca Film Festival last night, just three days before the official 20-year anniversary of the album itself.
The film, directed by One9, examines the conditions in which Nas created his debut classic, how it evolved, how Nas' father, jazz musician Olu Dara, played a part and much more. Following the film showing, Nas took the stage and performed some choice cuts off Illmatic, while sharing family anecdotes in between cuts.
Robert DeNiro, the founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, was in attendance and actually presented the film, as were important contributors like Pete Rock, Large Professor, DJ Premier, plus friends like Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, and Fabolous.
Real Talk NY was on hand to capture footage from the night, which you can check out above.
