The new documentary, "Time Is Illmatic", which focuses on the influence and making of Nas' seminal debut album, has been given an October theatrical release courtesy of Tribeca.
The film was picked up after premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. The organization has aqcuired the North American rights to the film, and will be screening it in select cities-- some of which will be granted with a performance from the rapper. It will also be released in VOD form.
Nas commented on the partnership with Tribeca, saying, ”I want to thank Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and the Tribeca Film family for all of the love & support they’ve given Time Is Illmatic. It is an honor to be in partnership with them. I feel there is a cultural kinship bonded by the city of New York.”
Dates have yet to be announced.
