Jay-Z released his new album, 4:44, to much fanfare and praise this past Friday, but not everyone is on that bandwagon. In fact, some of Jay-Z's lyrics on the track "The Story of OJ" are being considered anti-semitic.
Here are the lyrics in question:
Many other users voiced their displeasure on Twitter, creating a groundswell of blow back against the rapper.

Others have been quick to defend the famed emcee, implying that those who think the line was anti-semitic are "reaching," among other things.

One high-profile defender of Jay-Z's was Madonna's manager Guy Oseary, who thinks that those who are outraged have simply missed the point.
"If you read the lyrics out of context I can understand why people are jumping to that conclusion," Oseary wrote in an Instagram post. "But if you listen to the song in its entirety you will hear that the whole of the song is based on exaggerated stereotypes to make a point. There are African American stereotypes throughout the song." He added later that "Jewish people do NOT 'own all the property in America.' Jay knows this. But he's attempting to use the Jewish people in an exaggerated way to showcase a community of people that are thought to have made wise business decisions [...]."
