Police reportedly found Tiger Woods asleep at the wheel of his Mercedes prior to his arrest for DUI early Monday morning, though just as the 14-time major champion explained in a statement, alcohol was not involved.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, cops came upon Woods asleep in his car with the engine running and his right blinker flashing. He "had extremely slow and slurred speech."
Woods reportedly told cops he was "coming from L.A. California from golfing" but then changed his story and said he didn't know where he was. He took a field sobriety test and failed badly.
Per TMZ,
"According to the report, 4 drugs were listed under medical conditions -- Soloxer, Vicodin, Torix and Viox. It notes Viox was not taken this year. It says Tiger had 4 left knee surgeries and 4 Achilles."
"The report says he flunked the field sobriety test badly ... he couldn't do the one-leg stand or the nose touch. The report says, "When asked to do the Romberg alphabet test, he stated, 'yes, recite entire national anthem backwards.""
Woods was then arrested and taken to a testing facility where he took a breathalyzer and proved he had not been drinking. Police say he was "cooperative as much as possible, very droopy, extremely sleepy, hard to keep eyes open, hard to walk."
According to Woods, what happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.
