McCourty and Long explain their stance in new video.

New England Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty and his former Pats teammate Chris Long both announced that they'd be skipping the team's trip to the White House shortly after New England's Super Bowl LI victory.

In a new video titled "Standing Pats (Be Patriots)," which features a number of Patriots fans, both players further explained their decision not to celebrate the championship with President Trump.

Discussing his decision not to attend the celebratory White House visit, Long said,

“When my son grows up, and I believe the legacy of our president is going to be what it is, I don’t want him to say, ‘Hey Dad, why’d you go when you knew the right thing was to not go?'”

In addition to McCourty and Long, Martellus Bennett, Dont'a Hightower, LeGarrette Blount and others have also said they won't be attending the White House visit.

Check out the video below in which McCourty and Long elaborate on their reasons for not joining the Patriots at the White House.
