Shortly after the Los Angeles Lakers fired longtime GM Mitch Kupchak and promoted Magic Johnson to President of Basketball Operations, the team completed a trade that landed them another first round pick in this year's NBA Draft.

On Tuesday night the Lakers agreed to trade veteran point guard Lou Williams to Houston in exchange for Corey Brewer and an unprotected 2017 1st round pick.

According to ESPN, the Lakers had received multiple offers for Lou Williams that included a first round pick.

Williams leads the league in points off the bench, averaging 18.6 per game, whereas Corey Brewer has struggled throughout the year. However, it was the first round pick that LA truly coveted.

Getting rid of Lou, who was helping them win games, also improves the Lakers' chances of tanking and keeping their Top-3 pick which would otherwise go to Philly if it falls outside of the Top-3.

"If I was making shots, I would probably still be here, you never know," [Brewer] said. "I love Houston. I don't want to leave, but I have no choice. I hope my shot starts falling with the Lakers."
