Although we saw an increase in overall album sales last week, due to the Grammys and the Super Bowl, this week we're back down again, with a 3% decrease compared to last week. While Bruno Mars isn't featured on the list below, it should be noted he's still benefiting from the Super Bowl half-time show, with two of his albums, Unorthodox Jukebox having an astounding 92% increase, and his debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans benefiting from a 52% increase. Back to our hip-hop and r'n'bers, most have dropped back down after a slight rise from last week, including Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Kendrick Lamar-- however both rappers are still within the top 50 on the Billboard 200, so the Grammys definitely got the word out for both their albums. There are not any new entries to speak of just yet, although we can expect ScHoolboy Q's Oxymoron will be joining the list soon enough. For now, we've heard that his pre-sale numbers reached 23,000 units over the past week, which is definitely a strong start for the rapper, as the TDE camp revealed, they're aiming to double Kendrick Lamar's pre-sale numbers. Will Oxymoron do bigger numbers than good kid, m.A.A.d city's opening week?
1) Beyonce— Beyonce: Beyonce descends the charts once again this week, falling a few spots this week down to #7, moving around 38,000 units of her visual release. The album sales decreased by 25% this week, and her total sales increased to 1,707,000.
2) Eminem— The Marshall Mathers LP 2: After MMLP2 experienced a drop last week, it’s back up again this week. The album climbed up to #13 on the Billboard 200, moving another 22,000 units after charting for 14 weeks. The rapper’s total sales are now 1,914,000.
3) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis— The Heist: The Grammy Award winners saw a great increase in sales following the Grammy Awards, however this week they found themselves down ten spots at #21. They’ve been charting for 70 weeks, so that’s still pretty impressive. The duo moved another 13,161 units which was a drop in sales of 57% compared to last week. Their total sales for The Heist are 1,329,000.
4) Drake— Nothing Was The Same: Drizzy felt a drop in sales this week too, as his album Nothing Was The Same fell from #17 to #24. The rapper moved 12,000 units, making for total sales of 1,445,000. He’s been 20 weeks strong on the Billboard 200.
5) R. Kelly— Black Panties: Kellz, who saw a drop on the charts last week as Grammy winners/non-winners held sway, has risen back up this week to #25. The singer’s Black Panties (ha) sold 11,602 units, while his total sales increased to 334,000.
6) John Legend— Love In The Future: R’n’b singer and G.O.O.D. Music signee John Legend has been seeing some love on the Billboard 200 in recent times, his album rose up from #34 last week to #29 this week, with 11,367 units sold, an increase in sales of 8%. His total sales for Love In The Future currently stand at 299,000.
7) Justin Timberlake— The 20/20 Experience 2: Another r’n’b singer for the Charts list, JT comes in this week below both Legend and Kelly, as his album dropped to #35. The record sold 10,324 copies over the last seven days, with total sales nearing the 1 million mark, but not quite there yet: 858,000.
8) Kendrick Lamar— good kid, m.A.A.d city: Kendrick Lamar’s debut effort saw a spurt up the charts following the Grammy Awards, however it appears the album GKMC is back on the decline. After sitting at #21 last week, this week it comes in at #39. The Compton rapper sold 8,538 units and brought his total sales to 1,174,000.
9) Jhene Aiko— Sail Out EP: Jhene Aiko’s EP seems to be far from done charting. After a fall last week, the project has one more rose up, to familiar spot actually, #40. Ms. Aiko sold around 8,500 units as well.
10) Childish Gambino— Because The Internet: Gambino climbed several spots this week, from #64 he made his way to #51. Because The Internet did damage with 5,900 units sold, bringing up Donald Glover’s total sales to 213,000.
11) Kid Ink— My Own Lane: Ink’s debut saw a drop last week, but this week he’s gone from #58 to #55. The LA native was able to move another 5,800 units of his debut album, thus increasing his total sales to 85,000.
Last week we saw Isaiah Rashad's enter the Billboard 200 with Cilvia Demo moving over 8k, however this week the sales for the EP have dropped, and Rashad is no longer charting. Yo Gotti's album I Am is still charting though, and actually saw a rise this week from #121 to #71. B.o.B also benefited from an increase in sales this week, moving his album Underground Luxury from #129 to #82. Eminem's The Eminem Show continues to chart on the Billboard 200, because it's Eminem. The album rose up from #166 to #108 this week. Drake's Take Care album has also re-entered the Billboard 200 this week, making it's entrance at #117.
