The Avengers: End Game movie continues to rule the box office with ticket sales increasing daily, smashing greater records for the movie franchise and Marvel Studios. Indeed, the movie in and of itself received positive reviews and critical acclaim by fans who sat down for a total of 3 and 1/2 hours to discover the fate of their favorite superheroes. As such, lives were lost and certain characters were sacrificed in the defeat of the destruction-spreading character, Thanos. Of these characters were Scarlett Johansson's beloved character, Black Widow, whose death brought both character and movie fans to mourn profoundly. Yet, despite the movie's finale, the directors behind the Avenger films insist they had something else in mind for Johansson's role.

According to NME, the Russo Brothers revealed on The Gist podcast that early drafts of the movie scripts involved Black Widow as a caretaker to orphaned children who lost their parents following Thanos' fatal finger snap. Furthermore, Joe Russo commented: "I believe at one point really early in development, Black Widow was actually leading the organization in D.C. that was in charge of orphans, basically. That was what she was heading up five years later. But yes, it’s fascinating when you start running it down." While that would've completely switched up the storyline, we can only help but wonder if Black Widow's fate would have differed as well.
