Lil Dicky
Lil Dicky sets out on a righteous cause, but can he balance both style and substance?

While Lil Dicky has proven himself to be a capable emcee, technically sound and sharp-witted, it would appear he's in the middle of rebranding - at least in a sense. Given his last studio album Professional Rapper arrived all the way back in 2015, it's been a minute since Dicky dipped his baby toe in the rap game. Of course, there was the I'm Brain EP, which featured a gem or two, but all things considered, it felt like a stopgap. Last year, Dicky dropped off "Freaky Friday," with an outlandish and grandiose music video to boot. Dicky has always been one to go big on the visuals, but this time around, it feels like he's outdone himself with "Earth."

Releasing the first teaser trailer, Dicky has decided to go balls-to-the-wall with cameos, doubling down on a formula initially put forth by "Freaky Friday." For those seeking a return to Dicky's clever pen, it may very well be buried beneath the weight of sheer spectacle. After all, the video looks to feature:

Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Zac Brown, Brendon Urie, Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart, Adam Levine, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, Sia, Hailie Steinfeld, Lil Jon, Rita Ora, Miguel, Katy Perry, Lil Yachty, Ed Sheeran, Leonardo Dicaprio, Meghan Trainor, Joell Embiid, Tory Lanez, John Legend, Bad Bunny, PSY, Kris Wu, Backstreet Boys, Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat, and more.

Given the who's who of pop stars and personalities, it's likely that "Earth" will be skewing closer to comedy than rap, on the "comedy rap" spectrum. Is Lil Dicky too far gone?
