Lil Dicky is putting his activism into action by using his name, voice, talents, and famous friends to raise awareness about saving the planet. In his seven-minute, eleven-seconds music video, Dicky uses (mostly) animation, music, and witty dialogue to convince viewers that taking care of the planet should be at the top priority of all of our lists.
Earlier today, Dicky visited Ellen to preview his new global adventure video and share what motivated him to take on this task. “It’s all about saving the Earth. There’s an environmental crisis going on right now,” Dicky told Ellen. “We have 12 years to completely change the way we do so many things on Earth or the damage is irreversible.”
The video was directed by Dicky's close friend and collaborator, Tony Yacenda, and co-directed by Nigel Tierney and Federico Heller. If Yacenda's name sounds familiar, it's because Yacenda also directed Dicky's "Pillow Talking" and "Freaky Friday," as well as the comedic Netflix mockumentary, American Vandal.
As far as the features go, there are 30 artists who supported Dicky's cause including Ariana Grande (zebra), Justin Bieber (baboon), Wiz Khalifa (skunk), Miley Cyrus (elephant), Miguel (squirrel), Halsey (lion cub), Adam Levine (vultures), and Lil Jon (clam), among others. The visual will give you Madagascar vibes, and at the end, Dicky urges listeners to visit WeLoveTheEarth.org to find ways to improve the quality of our planet.
Quotable Lyrics
Ariana Grande
Hey, I'm a zebra
No one knows what I do, but I look pretty cool
Am I white or black?
