Jared Leto reflects on his tenure as "The Joker."

With Joaquin Phoenix set to play Joker in the film of the same name, Jared Leto took a moment to reflect on his own divisive take on the character. "I would definitely play the Joker again," reveals the actor, during a conversation with Variety.  In fact, one might say his relationship with the iconic villain was never "damaged," even after the backlash. “It all depends on the script and the circumstances as it always does," he continues, before fielding a question about his character's fate in the upcoming Birds Of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). Though many have assumed his involvement will be all but non-existence, Leto made sure to provide an ember of hype nevertheless. When asked if he would be making an appearance, Leto responded saying “I don’t think so. You’d have to ask them...Well, we’ll see.”

Clearly, he's not against holding it down for the comic book cause, having recently secured a role playing Spider-Man "villain" Morbius. As it happens, Leto has a long history of vampiric admiration, drawing back to his formative childhood years. "When I was a kid, I remember being at my grandmother’s house in Louisiana and the original OG would come on and just being pretty transfixed as some many of us were when we saw that,” Leto reveals. “And then the Anne Rice era was big for my brother and I. We passed those books around to each other.”

Between Leto's turn as The Joker and his upcoming appearance as Morbius, do you feel like Leto has earned his stripes where superhero villainy is concerned?
