Lil Pump’s Harvard Dropout mixtape is on the way and the Miami rapper is still hard at work on that final product. All the while, he’s got some reason to celebrate and a lot more motivation as his debut self-titled mixtape officially went Gold this month.
It was on June 21st that the effort pushed past the 500,000 RIAA benchmark in units sold. It may have taken a while for the project to get to this point, dropping back in October, but Pump’s breakout “Gucci Gang” single—which finds a home on the track list—took off running almost as soon as it hit the ground. The cut was certified Platinum back in January and has since peaked in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.
This summer, the young star was named to the latest iteration of the XXL Freshman Class alongside the likes of BlocBoy JB, J.I.D, and his fellow south Florida contemporaries Smokepurpp and Ski Mask The Slump God. Hopefully, the momentum maintains with the arrival of Harvard Dropout.
Pump first revealed in April that the project was complete but has yet to offer up any details on just when it will be arriving. Once that comes through though, Pump doesn’t plan on letting up as he also announced the pending arrival of his joint effort with Smokepurpp.
“After I drop this project, I'm dropping a project with my boy Smokepurpp," Pump said in a post on social media. "We about to drop some crazy shit.”
