This week, Janelle Monae earns her first No. 1 track on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart, moving from No. 3 to 1 all thanks to an 11 percent boost in plays according to Nielsen Music
It marks the third time in her career that Monae has entered the same chart, previously charting with the Miguel-assisted “Primetime,” which hit No. 29 in 2014 and this year’s “Make Me Feel,” which peaked at No. 30 in April.
“Like That” and “Make Me Feel” are both featured on Monae’s Dirty Computer studio album, which arrived this year, debuting at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart in May. “Like That” also makes moves on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart as it reaches a format audience of 10 million for the first time ever, despite being shot down from No. 20 to No. 24 on the chart.
Elsewhere, you can also find Lil Duval’s “Smile” cracking the Top 10 on the Adult R&B Songs chart, going from No. 11 to No.9 following an 18 percent increase in plays. While it’s the first Top 10 for Duval and Ball Greezy, “Smile” marks Snoop Dogg’s second appearance on the chart after being featured on TLC’s “Way Back” in 2017.
