This week, Tyga enjoys his first instance as the lead artist of the No. 1 track on Billboard’s Rhythmic songs airplay chart.
It’s the Offset-assisted “Taste” that accomplishes the feat on the chart dated for the week of September 8th, moving from No. 3 after experiencing a 5 percent boost in plays according to Nielsen Music. It also marks Offset’s first No. 1 on the chart as a solo act and his first solo entry on the chart overall.
The last time Tyga was at No. 1 was in 2014 with Chris Brown’s “Loyal,” which occupied the penthouse for two weeks straight. His next best performance as a solo act arrived with the Breezy collaboration “Ayo.”
Elsewhere,” Taste” moves up from No. 6 to No.5 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, moves to No. 2 on the Rap Airplay chart, and goes to No. 3 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart.
Since its release back in May, “Taste” has been an international summer anthem, ushering in a period of resurgence for the Cali-bred rapper. The track is currently certified double platinum and this week, peaks on Billboard’s coveted Hot 100 at No. 8.
The same chart also becomes territory for another win by Drake as “Nonstop” enters the top 10, breaking his own record for the most top 10s on the chart since its inception in 1992.
Currently, Drake claims 45 tracks in the top 10 with the next best tally being Lil Wayne and Chris Brown tied with 40.
