It was a contentious game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday night. The Wolves won the game 119-117, although the game was muddied after the Thunder's Nerlens Noel had to be taken away on a stretcher after trying to defend a dunk from Andrew Wiggins. This prompted Thunder player Dennis Schroder to call out the Thunder for allegedly laughing during the ordeal. After the match Wiggins got himself into some hot water after the game, saying Schroder was acting "gay."
"I don't know what's wrong with him. Uh, he was just gay. He was acting crazy for no reason," Wiggins said, according to ESPN. "I look right through him. He's not someone I look at as a problem. Not at all." Once the footage of Wiggins' comments made its way to the world, the player took to Twitter to apologize.
According to ESPN, the NBA has taken action against players who have used anti-gay slurs in the past. The last player to be fined was Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic who had to cough up $25,000 for using inappropriate language in a post-game interviewer.
The league has yet to comment on the situation.
