Much like Game of Thrones, Stranger Things will be skipping 2018 this year and making fans wait another year for new episodes. The second season of Netflix's breakout hit Stranger Things premiered last October, but it will be a long wait before fans get another season. The Duffer Brothers are currently hard at work crafting the third season of the series, which many viewers expected to drop later this year. Unfortunately, those viewers were wrong. EW was able to sit in on Netflix Programming Executive Cindy Holland's speech during the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills on Sunday, and the studio exec revealed the launch date for the next season of the show.
“It’s a handcrafted show,” Holland stated after explaining that it would be another year before we would see Stranger Things season three. “The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait." Holland’s also noted that the show will feature more special effects than they have used in previous seasons. “It’s a really exciting season, just takes a little more time,” she stated. It looks like Summer 2019 is going to get strange.
