Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward and MVP candidate LeBron James was one of the five players named to the All-NBA First Team today, marking the 12th season out of 15 that he received the honor. No other player in NBA history has been All-NBA First Team more than 11 times. Karl Malone & Kobe Bryant both made the team 11 seasons during their respective careers.
LeBron was one of two players to receive All-NBA First Team votes on all 100 ballots, the other being fellow MVP candidate James Harden. In addition to LeBron and Harden, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant and Damian Lillard were also named All-NBA First Team.
Davis, who was named All-Defensive First team yesterday, is the third finalist for 2018 NBA MVP. For Lillard, it marks the first time that he received All-NBA First Team honors, while KD has now earned the distinction six times in his career.
The All-NBA Second Team consists of Russell Westbrook, DeMar DeRozan, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and LaMarcus Aldridge.
The All-NBA Third Team includes Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Victor Oladipo, Paul George and Karl-Anthony Towns.
The All-NBA Teams were selected by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis. Voters selected two guards, two forwards and one center for each team, choosing players at the position they play regularly. Players who received votes at multiple positions were slotted at the position where they received the most votes.
