Following the first set of leaked photos that surfaced online earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly has decided to come through today and share the first official look at the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. The film, which stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, is set in the 1990s, and follows the title character as she becomes one of the strongest heroes during an intergalactic war. Captain Marvel also serves as the first solo, female-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and an introduction into the most powerful hero the MCU has ever had.
“She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face,” Larson tells EW of the character. “She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.”
Along with Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou and Clark Gregg are set to star in their MCU roles. Among those joining the cast also include Jude Law, Gemma Chan and Annette Bening.
Captain Marvel is set to be released March 8, 2019. Check out the first photo of Brie as Captain Marvel (below) courtesy of EW and her IG page.
