"Captain Marvel" couldn't come sooner.

Marvel's first female-led film, Captain Marvel, has officially begun production today. The news comes from the verified Twitter account for the film that shared a photo of the lead star, Brie Larson, posted up with 57th Wing Commander, Jeannie Leavitt, who is teaching her the ways of her character.

More news on the film has also been announced today, telling us that Clark Gregg, who will play Agent Coulson, and Djimon Hounsou acting as Korath the Pursuer have joined the cast - as well as Lee Pace acting as Ronan the Accuser. Clark is no newbie to the Marvel world having been in many past films for the franchise. Djimon had a role in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy making Captain Marvel being his second appearance with the team.

Other stars in the movie are Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, and McKenna Grace.

Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8th.
