Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes still has not tasted defeat in his NFL career.
Last night in Denver, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 27-23 comeback victory against the Broncos which included a number of highlight reel plays, most notably a left-handed pass to Tyreek Hill for a first down on the game-winning drive.
“I didn’t think [about] it at all,” Mahomes said, per Yahoo Sports. “I was just scrambling left, I felt Von on my back and I knew I couldn’t throw it with my right hand. I knew we needed the first down and so I kind of just like shot-putted it to Tyreek.”
"They never encourage that,'' Mahomes said, per ESPN. "But at the same time, as long as you complete it and you get the first down, they're fine with that.''
According to ESPN, the win marked Mahomes' first fourth-quarter comeback as he is now 5-0 in five career starts, while KC improved to 4-0 on the season. The 23-year old QB finished with 304 passing yards, half of which came in the fourth quarter, and one touchdown pass as well as one rushing TD.
“He made us cover for a long time. I had to go inside and get an IV,” Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said, per Yahoo Sports. “We couldn’t sack this man. He’s a hell of a player, he’s a hell of a quarterback.”
The Chiefs will return to Arrowhead Stadium in Week 5 where they'll host the 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars.
