Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall will reportedly undergo a knee procedure this week and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Obviously, this means Wall will be unable to suit up for the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 18th which means Team LeBron is in need of another replacement.
Wall, averaging 19.4 points and 9.3 assists this season, originally hurt his left knee just ten games into the season against Dallas and has been dealing with issues ever since. According to ESPN, his knee required an MRI earlier this season and has also been drained and received injections. Wall, 27, underwent another MRI on Monday and later visited orthopedic surgeon Richard D. Parker, who will perform the "clean up" procedure today. Parker also performed two knee surgeries on Wall in May 2016, according to ESPN.
At 27-22, the Washington Wizards are currently sitting in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, though they're just two games up on the eighth seeded Philadelphia 76ers. The Wizards will begin the 6-8 week stretch without their All-Star point guard tonight as they host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With Wall sidelined for the NBA All-Star Game, Team LeBron is now due for a replacement. NBA commissioner Adam Silver has already added Paul George to the roster following DeMarcus Cousins' season ending injury, but now he'll be tasked with finding another.
Assuming Silver selects a guard to take Wall's spot, some possible Eastern Conference replacements include Kemba Walker, Goran Dragic and Ben Simmons.
