The Wizards can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Usually, when athletes suffer season-ending injuries, it's because of something that happened in a game. Well, for John Wall, that, unfortunately, wasn't the case. The Washington Wizards star has been out of the lineup since December 26th with an injury to his Achilles that he actually sustained after slipping at home. After surgery to his Achilles, Wall developed an infection and during a routine surgery to clean the infection, it was discovered that his Achilles was in fact ruptured. Now, Wall will need another surgery to repair it which will make him miss the next 12 months of action, according to ESPN.

The Wizards have remained optimistic this season about potentially making the playoffs but without Wall in the lineup, that possibility is looking grimmer. Washington currently sits at a record of 22-31 and are two games out of a playoff spot. They sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference and without Wall, it will be difficult for the team to string together the wins necessary to make a postseason push.

Wall contributed 20.7 points per game to the Wizards this season in 32 matches. The Wizards star has had his fair share of injury problems in the past as he only played 41 games last season thanks to a knee injury.
