Bridgewater could be the Jets' new starting QB.

After missing out on the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, the New York Jets have reportedly turned to "Plan B" in their search for a free agent quarterback.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport, among others, the Jets are actively working on a deal with former Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater. The 25-year old QB reportedly has multiple options but he is the Jets' first choice of the remaining free agent quarterbacks on the market. New York had prioritized Cousins but he has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Vikings.

Minnesota selected Bridgewater out of Louisville with the 32nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and after a Pro Bowl season in 2015, in which the Vikings went 11-5, he looked ready to take another step forward in 2016. However, a non contact knee injury kept him out of action for that entire season. While Bridgewater was healthy enough to be on the Vikings roster last year, the consistent play of Case Keenum kept the former first round pick on the sidelines.

The New York Jets have roughly $90 million in cap space, the most in the NFL, although they've been quiet throughout the first 24 hours of free agency. The Jets also have the sixth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, which they could use on another quarterback such as Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, but the team has needs at nearly every position.

Bridgewater has thrown for 6,150 yards, 28 touchdowns and 22 interceptions in 30 NFL games. He has completed 64.7% of his passes and posted a 86.3 quarterback rating in those games.
