It's been a big year for Tory Lanez. The Toronto rapper's been gearing up to drop off his forthcoming album Memories Don't Die in the coming months. He kicked off the year with two new mixtapes and has been steadily working on kicking the sophomore slump. While fans stay on their toes for the album, he hit up Funk Flex to prove to everyone that regardless of the melodies he delivers on projects, nobody should question his ability on the mic.
Tory Lanez made his way over to Funk Flex where he delivered one of the most impressive freestyles we've seen him drop in a minute. Lanez comes through with some of the most vicious bars on the microphone and truth be told, hopefully we hear him doing more stuff like this on his next album. It's a solid freestyle from Tory that proves that he can stand next to some of the best and hold his own. The rapper touches a lot of ground with this freestyle. He discusses his come up and even XXL snubbing him on the cover. "Fuck around and see in the magazine all up in the features/ XXL ain't want me on the cover/ Next year they came around, I fucked around and dubbed 'em/I don't give a fuck, y'all n*ggas know how I be rockin'/ 45th on the block, n*gga Milly rockin." During the video, Flex' is in awe by Tory's efforts, as he should be. Before he ends off, he made sure to state that he does it for those who respect classic New York culture and for the legendary emcees.
While the Canadian emcee has been steadily been gearing up for his forthcoming album, he's dropped some major singles a long the way as well as some stand out features. His versatility as an artist has been solidified this year. He'll drop off a joint like "Shooters," and then hop on the dancehall infused joint "Number One" with Massari.
Most recently, 50 Cent revealed that he and Tory are working on some new stuff. It's unsure whether it'll be for Tory's album or even for one of 50 Cent's shows. Either way, it'll be dope to hear or see whatever they end up collaborating on.
