Tinashe may have been voted off Dancing With The Stars much earlier than anyone could have expected, but when one door closes another one opens and for Tinashe, it's the lead role in Fox's upcoming live musical, Rent. According to Variety, the "No Drama" singer is signed on to play Mimi Marquez, "a dancer who struggles with addiction and catches the eye of musician and recovering addict Roger."
Other known acts to star in the film is Vanessa Hudgens and R&B singer Mario. Rent was first created by Jonathan Larson and "is a rock musical loosely based on La Boheme that tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York's East Village in the days of the Bohemian Alphabet City and under the shadow of HIV/AIDS," THR notes. The performance of the musical will be live streamed from Fox Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 27th, 2019.
In other Tinashe news, she recently sided with Rihanna when the "Work" singer declined to perform at the Super Bowl in support of Colin Kaepernick. "If she believes in it, she believes in it," she said. "It's important. You have to stand for something."
