Jay-Z is going to bat against Boston Red Sox player David Ortiz for naming a club in the Dominican Republic after the rapper’s 40/40 Club.

According to Reuters, Ortiz is illegally operating a Forty/Forty club on the island, in addition to running the domain namewww.fortyforty.net.

Ortiz' club opened in October of this year, while Jay-Z's first 40/40 location in New York opened in June of 2003.

While rapper DMX has been in and out of jail on multiple occasions, up until now he’s failed to realize that a company that was hired to collect his royalties has been holding out on him for years now.


According to Yahoo News, a lawsuit
was filed against New Jersey-based company Rich Kids Entertainment claiming that the company has withheld money from DMX for a decade.

After putting his rap career on hold for a short period of time, DXnext alum and Philadelphia emcee Trel Mack is putting together his latest project, Return of the Hustle EP.


With his last piece of work, The New Dynasty, released in 2008, Mack explained his absence and subsequent plans for 2010. Patricia Elam says the family of Keith “Guru” Elam found out about his death the day after he died, through the media.

"[My son] Justin found out on the Internet and called me. I had to call my dad," Patricia Elam told MTV News in an exclusive interview. Officials at New York City's Rikers Island facility confiscated "music contraband" from Lil Wayne's jail cell on Tuesday, May 11, which included a pair of headphones, a charger and a MP3 watch. Apparently the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is after Lil' Wayne’s fortunes, seeking over $1.13 million dollars in back taxes for the years 2004, 2005 and 2007.

 Cool & Dre have made no secret that they are fans of Cash Money, but now much bigger moves are being made with the two hip-hop staples. The duo has just announced a brand new partnership agreement with the powerhouse record label run by Baby.  Ever since 50 Cent dropped 'Before I Self Destruct' last year and experienced his first true bomb, he's been relatively silent on the rap front. Of course, he's still been acting, pulling publicity stunts and ruthlessly taunting some of the biggest artists in the game, but there haven't been any new verses from the vicious Queens native lately. That all changed over the weekend when 50 heard the new Cee-Lo jam entitled 'F--- You.'

King Blues Club &  Grill played home to the 2010 Underground Music Awards, which highlights the best unsigned and independent artists within the urban music scene. Chris Brown  may be hitting his musical stride again. Notching Greatest Gainer/Airplay honors for a second straight week, the singer is this close to notching a top 10 hit on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with "Deuces." The breakup song-featuring Tyga and Kevin McCall-moves 15-11 in its sixth week on the chart.


Released to iTunes June 29 along with another new Brown song, "No B.S.," "Deuces" moves 60-59 on the Digital Songs chart. Up 11% in digital sales, the song has sold 132,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy has challenged rapper Fabolous to a battle over a series of tweets the Brooklyn rapper sent out last week making fun of Soulja Boy's alleged tryst with Katt Stacks.

Fabolous, who is known for starting trending topics on Twitter with his tweets, lashed out at Soulja Boy after footage of him hit the net with Katt Stacks in a hotel room, allegedly using cocaine.

Although Soulja Boy has denied any drug use, Fabolous berated him on Twitter, to his 631, 337 followers.

""A brief feud between Fabolous and Soulja Boy, which started on Twitter, has been resolved on the radio waves of New York City.

DJ Clue of Power 105 in New York conducted a brief interview where the two men settled their differences.

The entire incident started after Soulja Boy was allegedly caught in a tryst with Kat Stack, who said the young rapper was snorting cocaine. The vixen also showed a plate of what seemed to be the illegal drug in an online video.

Calling into New York radio station Hot 97 Thursday (September 9) night, 50 blamed celebrity groupie Kat Stacks for setting him up and said the 20 year-old rapper does not do cocaine.

Petey Pablo ran into some legal trouble this past weekend after he was arrested  at North Carolina's Raleigh Durham Airport for carrying a Smith & Wesson pistol in his carry-on luggage. Pablo was arrested with the handgun on Saturday, Sept. 11, nine years after the terrorist attacks on America. But after posting $50,000 bond, Pablo, born Moses Barrett III, claims that the gun wasn't actually his, nor that it was a publicity stunt to promote his new music. Pablo says he was simply protecting a friend from doing something stupid.

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem's Recovery moved up a notch to No. 2 with 81,000 copies falling one slot behind Sara Bareilles' Kaleidoscope Heart which sold 89,500 records. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the rapper's new album has sold 2,501,400 records to date.


Soulful singer Fantasia's Back To Me fell from Top 10 moving down six slots to No. 11 with 29,400. After three weeks in stores, the singer's new LP has sold 186,600 copies.

While Drake's R&B mixtape, It's Never Enough, might not drop in October, he does plan to put it out before the end of the year.

"I don't know if it'll be next month," he told MTV News on Saturday during his VMA rehearsal. "I'm hoping for Christmastime. I'd really love to get it out for Christmastime. Next month, I'll be on tour. I'm gonna really get to put the finishing touches on it in November and December. Because it's a mixtape, I don't have to wait for the production of it."

He'll miss a little over a month, but if things go according to schedule, Lil Wayne will be out of prison in time to catch most of the NFL season. Last week, the season kicked off with Wayne's home team, Super Bowl champions the New Orleans Saints, beating Weezy's favorite player, Brett Favre, and the Minnesota Vikings.

As Young Money President Mack Maine told MTV News recently, Weezy is elated that Favre didn't hang up his shoulder pads and go into retirement.

When T.I. and wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle were arrested in Los Angeles earlier this month, police originally charged them with possession of a controlled substance — a substance which would later be revealed to be Ecstasy. But according to new documents, that might not have been the only drug in their possession. The charges could send T.I. back to prison.
