R&B singer Omarion will replace Shane Sparks as a judge on MTV's reality dance competition, America's Best Dance Crew.


Omarion will be joining former *Nsync member J.C. Chavez and rapper Lil Mama for the fifth season of the hit show, and released a statement saying that he is excited to get a chance to work with the dancers.

Lil Wayne’s larger than life persona continues to keep fans intrigued even while the rapper is behind bars. The MC is set to grace the cover of Ozone magazine for its sixth annual “Sex Issue,” even though he’s currently serving his year-long jail sentence on weapons charges.

Ignoring a good century of racial progress and pretty much all common sense, a senior at Bethel University in Minnesota recently performed a multi-song skit for students sporting blackface in an attempt to impersonate Lil Wayne. Unsurprisingly, the backlash was immediate, with the university officials launching an investigation and a subsequent apology from the obviously-spooked student group involved.

Officials at New York City's Rikers Island facility confiscated "music contraband" from Lil Wayne's jail cell on Tuesday, May 11, which included a pair of headphones, a charger and a MP3 watch. Wayne was charged with infraction for contraband when the items -- stuffed in a bag of potato chips -- were dug out of his trash can.

After gaining the attention of fans earlier this week with a heart felt letter from behind bars, incarcerated New Orleans rapper Lil' Wayne is making headlines in a less favorable way.


Apparently the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is after Lil' Wayne’s fortunes, seeking over $1.13 million dollars in back taxes for the years 2004, 2005 and 2007.

The IRS filed and a lien against his One Family Foundation this past June in Dade County Florida courts, as the lien maintains the same address as his charitable organization.

The release of Tha Carter IV has been delayed by Lil Wayne’s jail sentence, but one producer assures it will be worth the wait when it does come. “Carter IV gonna change your life,” Dow Jones, one-half of hitmaking duo Tha Bizness, tells Rap-Up TV. “It’s something that you ain’t never seen before. We thought Carter III  was incredible and he took it a couple steps up.”

Drake explained how Eminem and Jay-Z fans are very devoted to them and always stay loyal and feels Lil Wayne deserves the same.

DJ Funkmaster Flex had a very special guest for the launch of his website, as incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne made his first phone interview, calling in from Rikers Island where he is serving a sentence for criminal possession.

When asked what music he's listening to, Weezy regretfully admitted that he doesn't listen to music there because he is incapable of listening to himself, which is what he usually does. Instead, he listens to sports or "I listen to my thoughts," he said. He aspires to record with either Andre 3000 or Tech N9ne in the near future.

 Cool & Dre have made no secret that they are fans of Cash Money, but now much bigger moves are being made with the two hip-hop staples. The duo has just announced a brand new partnership agreement with the powerhouse record label run by Baby. Apparently, the agreement will allow them to produce tons of tracks for both Cash Money and its subsidiary Young Money imprint (which, of course, is lead by Lil Wayne and features Drake and Nicki Minaj).

Childish beef with Nicki Minaj aside, Lil' Kim  has been grinding hard on her comeback trail. The Brooklyn rapper has put on a series of concert performances in the past few weeks, and on Tuesday (Aug. 10) she officially launched her new promotional campaign with Three Olives Vodka.

Among the items on his list are beef sticks, Kool-Aid, Halls cough drops, ramen soup, Nacho Cheese Doritos, 50 sugar packets, and Poland Spring water (no soda). Wayne also requested 20 envelopes and stamps so he can correspond with his family, friends, and fans, who've been writing him non-stop since he checked in in March. (Rap-Up)

 Flo Rida is releasing a beefy third LP. The double disc, titled 'The Only One' will consist of two sister albums -- 'Only One Flo' and 'Only One Rida.' With guest appearances from Ludacris, Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne, who cameos on 'Fresh Out of State,' the two-disc album will also include his international hit 'Can't Handle Me' with David Guetta, which cracked the Top 20 in the U.S. and reached the top of the charts in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Last month, Weezy gave his first in-person prison interview with Hot 97 personality Funkmaster Flex. Among the various questions, Flex asked who Wayne was looking forward to working with once he’s released from jail. “Andre 3000 and Tech N9ne,” Wayne answered. Tech N9ne?

One person who responded to Wayne's wishes was Tech himself. Earlier today the rapper confirmed via Twitter that he’d just come from visiting Wayne hinting at a future collaboration between the pair.

He'll miss a little over a month, but if things go according to schedule, Lil Wayne will be out of prison in time to catch most of the NFL season. Last week, the season kicked off with Wayne's home team, Super Bowl champions the New Orleans Saints, beating Weezy's favorite player, Brett Favre, and the Minnesota Vikings.

As Young Money President Mack Maine told MTV News recently, Weezy is elated that Favre didn't hang up his shoulder pads and go into retirement.

As Weezy's release date approaches, he has written another letter to his fans.

Lil Wayne might have been forced into solitary confinement earlier this week, but his latest release, the digital-only LP, I Am Not A Human Being, debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 today (October 6).


According to the Nielsen SoundScan, the disc landed at the No. 2 position on this week’s charts after selling close to 110,200 copies since hitting Internet retailers last Tuesday. As previously reported, physical copiesof I Am Not A Human Being will hit stores next week.

(AP)  NEW YORK (AP) - Lil Wayne has been freed from jail after serving eight months in a gun case, emerging with a hot new album, well-wishes from a former president and a deepened appreciation for his fans.


The city's Department of Correction website said Thursday the Grammy Award-winning rap star had been released from the Rikers Island jail complex.

His managers have said he planned to head for his home in Miami, where they're planning a welcome-home party Sunday.

Lil Wayne has been giving his fans glimpses of his first day of freedom with a series of pictures, and the latest shows the I Am Not a Human Being MC partaking in a little business and pleasure.

Lil Wayne may have spent the past eight months doing a bid at Rikers Island, but his personal life chased him to the clink. While serving his bid, Weezy was slapped with paternity papers by a Missouri woman claiming that they conceived an illegitimate child back in 2002, and now, the 8-year-old child's grandmother has obtained a court order that forces the rapper to submit to a paternity test.

Justin Bieber is apparently very serious about his "rap" career, so much so, that the youngster is planning on releasing a mixtape with Young Money member Lil' Twist. According to Twist, the teen heartthrob will take his flow to a full album.

While the rest of the world continues to wait for Dr. Dre's 'Detox,' Polow Da Don wants to assure fans that the album will be well worth the wait. The producer, who has worked with the likes of Usher, Keri Hilson, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown has been in the studio with Dre cooking up some musical magic.

New York rap rivals Foxy Brown and Lil Kim have both shown their disapproval of Nicki Minaj as of late by going after the Young Money star.
