It’s safe to say the Migos are having themselves a good Tuesday. Not only did they get nominated for a couple Grammy’s with “Bad & Boujee,” but Quavo says their latest single off Culture II, “Motorsport” is now officially Gold, surpassing the 500,000 units sold mark in just over two weeks.
“M O T O R S P O R T I S N O W G O L D I N O N L Y 2 1/5 Wks,” he tweeted out before again announcing that “#Motorsport Is GOLD” in a separate tweet. Coincidentally this news comes just days before we’re expected to receive the song’s official video, which is set to drop this Friday December 1.
Following its release, the song had some controversy surrounding it after Joe Budden came up with a conspiracy theory saying the song was initially a collaboration between Migos and Cardi B and Nicki Minaj was later added to it. However Nicki debunked Joe’s theory and cleared the air a couple days later, saying the song was initially just her and Quavo.
"I was on the song w/Quavo. No one else was on it. He called & asked if I think we should put Bardi on it, I said “ok let’s do it”. The end," she said, "Migos weren’t even on it yet. Just Quavo. The conspiracy theories r just so tired. Relax. Breathe. Imagine me not knowing who on a song w/me.”
Just over the weekend, Nicki Minaj revealed that she was late to hear Takeoff’s reference about her in his verse. Nicki tweeted… ‘"Take Off verse on Motorsport. 🤔😩 it’s my shit tho but ummm 🤣 I feel like I didn’t peep them lines until the song came out," she said. "I was like 😲.”
Check out Quavo’s tweet (below) and look out for the official video to arrive in a few days.
