As previously expected, the official numbers following the premiere of John Wick: Parabellum are coming in and will certainly dethrone Avengers: End Game from the number one spot. According to Variety, the Keanu Reeves-led movie yielded a total of $22.67 million dollars this Friday alone. The end of the weekend should thus project much bigger numbers, with an estimated $56 million dollars expected from the 3,850 North American movie theatre locations. While John Wick Chapter 2 racked in a bit more in its debut back in February of 2017, the threequel's debut remains impressive nonetheless.
Moreover, John Wick 3 currently "holds an A- CinemaScore and 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes." The franchise saw the return of actors Lawrence Fishburne and Iane McShane, along with the new arrival of actresses Halle Berry and Asia Kate Dillon. Hopes remain high for the neo-noir film.
Despite this, Avengers: End Game has had an impressive run. The movie broke major records since its release and the premiere amassed an impressive $357 million dollar debut. Furthermore, Variety reports it will still clock in around $29 million dollars for its fourth weekend in theatres. Currently, the superhero flick has totaled around $2.5 billion dollars and so worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing film of all time behind Avatar.
