Songstress Jhené Aiko is never shy about poetically expressing her emotions, especially with the public. The soft-spoken singer-songwriter has often used social media as a sort of therapy, enigmatically moving in and out of sharing cryptic images and messages that give followers hints as to how she's doing and what she's working on.

Earlier today Aiko told her Instagram followers that she had a depressive moment that almost spun her into a cycle that has crippled her in the past. Hoping that she could encourage others to keep moving forward when faced with adversity or thoughts of self-harm, she took to her Instagram Story to give insight into how she dealt with it. "One night I was so deep in my feelings, I was afraid of what I might do," she wrote. "I didn't want to revert to the same bad habits that have set me back time and time again. I realized that instead of running away from my emotions...I needed to sit with them, express myself and say whatever came to mind. It was healing to say the least...and now I feel a bit more free." She ended the message with a blue heart and the hashtag "#triggered."

Back in December, Aiko shared a now-deleted Instagram post where she uploaded a clip of a new track. It only lasted a few moments, but she sang, "I'm triggered when I see your face/Triggered when I hear your name." Maybe this is also a hint that fans can expect some new music coming from her soon?
