The curious case of XXXTentacion.

In the wake of his recent signing to Capitol Records, worth a reported six million dollars, XXXTentacion has issued a few interesting statements. After initially describing his new partners at Capitol as "wonderful people" with "fire" energy, X soon found himself singing a different tune. As the days went by, X's temperament toward his new major label deal seemed to drastically change for the worse. Less than a week after announcing the signing, X announced that he would be "terminating [his] deal with capitol records." Explaining that he was "tired of this shit," X also claimed he would stop making music for a little while, which seemed like somewhat of a throwaway comment at the time.

However, a representative for X spoke up today, confirming that "XXXTentacion is signed to Caroline/Capitol Music Group," and that the rapper was the only one able to "elaborate on his posts." So as it stands, the details of this whole debacle are all over the place, making it hard to figure out what's going on. Perhaps X has found himself experiencing some of the dreaded major label pitfalls, and has come to regret the nature of his Capitol deal. Be that as it may, the representative made it seem like X is contractually bound to Capitol for the foreseeable future.

However, XXXTentacion may have other plans. Earlier today, the Floridian rapper fired off an emotional post announcing his plans to retire from music. "Sad to announce I will not be making or releasing any music," writes X. "I am tired of being mentally abused for trying to help people, I am tired of the hate, I'm done."

It's hard to say whether there is any truth to this statement, as X has been known to make impulsive announcements in the past. Hopefully he can get his mind right, and if music is causing him mental harm, perhaps it's wise to take a step back. In other news, X is due to appear in court l for his alleged involvement in a domestic abuse trial.
