Following a stint in prison, Kevin Gates stayed silent for much of the beginning of the year. The Louisiana rapper was released from jail early in the year but, for reasons unknown, he would not make any appearances or release any new music. When his wife Dreka Gates took over his Instagram account, she revealed that he was unable to leave the city of Chicago, citing strict travel restrictions. While he was not even able to return to his home in California, the restrictions were finally lifted last month when he reunited with his family. That wasn't all though as he celebrated his return to true freedom by dropping an EP out of nowhere in Chained to the City.
Both "Change Lanes" and "Let It Sing" from the project debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 during their first weeks at #68 and #82, respectively. Since "Change Lanes" has already been given some snazzy visuals, courtesy of Cole Bennett, it was time for "Let It Sing" to be elevated with a new music video, which was released today. Rocking his "I'm Him" t-shirt in preparation of his upcoming project, Kevin Gates is back like he never left, putting on for his day-one fans with the "Let It Sing" video. The visuals are notably dark, being filmed on a gloomy day and taking advantage of the bleak atmosphere to enhance the track's lyrics.
